Your big day is just around the corner and you probably haven’t been thinking about much else the past year. Since there’s so much planning and prep work that goes into a wedding, it’s understandable that you might be feeling a tad overwhelmed. Don’t forget to take time for yourself. To help you de-stress before your wedding day, we’ve put together a list of helpful tips to bring forth that zen-like feeling.
Book a spa day
In order to reach the highest level of relaxation before walking down the aisle, check out some local spas to see if they offer day packages or even bridal options. If a whole day of pampering is too much for you, try booking a one-hour Swedish massage or sit down for a much-needed mani/pedi combo, guaranteed to make you feel gorgeous and refreshed when you walk out the door.
Make quality time for your fiancé
When you are preoccupied, often the people who matter the most get unintentionally ignored. Remember to make time for loved ones — especially your fiancé. Try to set aside a half hour every day to catch up, unwind or simply enjoy each other’s company. Take a walk in the park, watch your favourite show together or if you have more time to spare, plan a date night to keep the romance fresh.
Get your yoga on
There are many different types of yoga, so it’s important to find one that resonates with you. If you’re looking to exert a lot of energy and improve your figure for the big day, try Kundalini yoga. For those that love the heat, Bikram yoga is done in 105-degree heat and focuses a lot on alignment. Alternatively, Vinyasa yoga, also known as “vinyasa flow” is best suited for individuals who enjoy a lot of fluid movements. All forms will help you clear your mind and de-stress; but there might be one that suits you best, so make sure to do your research beforehand.
Take a hot bath
Enjoy some bubbly — and we don’t mean champagne! It might sound like a simple idea; but a hot bath is a great way to shut the world out and find your little piece of heaven without spending money. For the full relaxation experience, be sure to light some candles and add some epsom salts to help calm your nerves and reduce any muscle pain you might be experiencing before the big day.
Start a Journal
With so many thoughts running through your mind, now would be a great time to start a personal journal to keep track of all your hopes and dreams for the future. This technique is a great way to release stress; simply jot down your stream of consciousness and record memories that will surely last a lifetime. Reflection is the key to staying calm amongst the chaos.
