We’ve been waiting for more Brides of Beverly Hills ever since the first season ended, and we can’t wait to tune into season two (back-to-back episodes Fridays at 10pm)! Since we love talking about the ladies of this area code, we’re listing Hollywood’s most brazen brides. Whether it’s the bad behaviour or atrocious attire, these brides take the cake:
Reality star Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries were married in August 2011. A marriage that lasts only 72 days isn’t enough to land you on on the Hollywood Brides Gone Bad list, but an estimated $17.9-million wedding profit and shocking refusal to return the wedding gifts certainly is.
Talk show maven Star Jones and financier Al Reynolds said “I do” in November 2004. Although their marriage lasted only four years, the bride’s event-planning antics live on in infamy. Jones incorporated more than 30 corporate sponsors to cover wedding costs, from the invitations to the wedding party’s attire. The couple even named Continental their official wedding airline — all in exchange for media mentions.
Actress/model Pamela Anderson and singer Kid Rock tied the knot in July 2006 and were married for four short months. For the ceremony on a yacht, Pam wore a white mini dress with a veil, which she quickly traded for a traditional white bikini and sailor’s cap. Rock sported a white V-neck T-shirt with a coordinating Detroit Tigers baseball cap.
Actress Natalie Portman and choreographer Benjamin Millepied were married in a private ceremony in August 2012. The 31-year-old actress was recently named the new face of fashion powerhouse Dior, making her gown choice and flower-girl headpiece all the more disappointing.
Singer-songwriter Ashlee Simpson wed musician Pete Wentz in May 2008, and even though the marriage didn’t last, their Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding exists forever in our nightmares. Lowlights included black roses and Wentz’s bulldog acting as ring-bearer.
Entrepreneurs Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy said their I dos in March 2010, and although the Four Seasons Restaurant was a beautiful venue and her designer gown fit perfectly (despite the four-month baby bump), it was Bethenny’s decision to use a champagne bucket as a pre-ceremony port-a-potty on national television that landed her “ever after” on our list.
Country singer/songwriters Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton got hitched in May 2011 on a ranch in Texas. “She wants to serve wild game at the wedding,” Shelton told Us magazine, “so that gives me an excuse to go shoot a bunch of deer!” Whether it was the unique catering, the vows performed under the arbor of deer antlers, or the groom and his men sporting worn-out Wranglers, this wedding needed a bit more country chic.
Actress/model Carmen Electra and guitarist Dave Navarro wed in November 2003. Although the ceremony was surprisingly traditional, the couple’s literal interpretation of “Til Death Do Us Part” via their gruesome wedding invitations still sends chills up our spines — and perhaps foreshadowed the death of their relationship three years later.
Actress Anne Hathaway and actor Adam Shulman were married in September 2012. Although we only have access to paparazzi photos, the bride was wearing custom-made couture Valentino. Alas, the bad factor for Anne was her headpiece, which left her looking less 1920s inspired and more like the recipient of pre-ceremony brain surgery. We’ll give Annie a pass this time, as we hear she’s going to donate the money from the sale of her official wedding photographs to charity.
Pop star Britney Spears and backup dancer Kevin Federline were married in September 2004. Spears and Federline were in the midst of planning a lavish ceremony but with a baby on the way and media pressure mounting, they chose to surprise attendees to their engagement party with a ceremony instead. The wedding party’s infamous “Maids” and “Pimps” tracksuits plus the alleged fried chicken dinner reception made this one of the worst.
