Each week, we’re picking a favourite dress from Mother of the Bride and showing you how you can get the look. And to make it even sweeter, Terrie (co-owner of T. Carolyn Fashions) will be sharing all of her dress-picking secrets.

Slice.ca: Tell us about this dress.
Terrie: This is a couture gown (shown in Water Weed Green) with a modified sweetheart neckline, strapless stretch net, a dropped waist, and ruched bodice. There are multiple layers of ethereal scalloped strips and a sweep train and beaded embellishment under bust.  A matching stole was also included.

Slice.ca: How did Gwen end up in this gown?
Terrie: Gwen was very insecure about her appearance as she’d just celebrated a milestone birthday. I was told that the wedding was an outdoor, Black Tie event.  Gwen had just sold her favorite cow to buy a dress that would wow her husband Terry for their son’s wedding. Not knowing the exact conversion rate on a cow, but knowing the price of a steak dinner, I deduced that she wanted couture.

Slice.ca: Tell us why this dress works for Karen.
Terrie: This gown is great for a wedding that is outdoors and Black Tie. This stretch net is a super light weight, easy to wear fabric that looks amazing. Gwen has beautiful green eyes and the Water Weed Green really brings them out.  With all the time Gwen has spent in the sun, this particular shade of green is very complimentary with her skin and hair color.  While Gwen doesn’t recognize it, she has a cute little figure and the dropped waist, ruched bodice really shows it off. The multiple layers of stretch net add tremendous volume to the skirt without being heavy or bulky. This could be a Red Carpet gown. It’s an extremely elegant, youthful gown and Gwen looks fabulous in it!
