Each week, we’re picking our favourite dress from Mother of the Bride and showing you how you can get the look. And to make it even sweeter, Terrie (co-owner of T. Carolyn Fashions) will be sharing all of her dress-picking secrets.

Slice.ca: Tell us about the dress.
Terrie: It’s a luminous taffeta gown with crisscross ruched waist and hand-beaded trim on sweetheart neckline. Modified mermaid skirt. Bolero jacket with ruffled collar and beading at cuff. Shown in Platinum.

Slice.ca: How did Monetta end up with this gown?
Terrie: When Monetta walked in, she thought she wanted platinum but she knew she wanted bling.  Monetta, her friends and her son (the groom) began shopping as soon as they walked through the door. This gown was one of the first things they saw.  It was a great pick!

Slice.ca: Why does this gown work for Monetta?
Terrie: Monetta has a cute little figure and the ruched waist and modified mermaid skirt accentuates this asset.  This particular shade has a very subtle blue undertone that really brings out Monetta’s beautiful blue eyes.  In addition, the ruffled collar adds a bit of drama in a very sophisticated way by framing her face and is fabulous with her short hair.   As if all of this weren’t enough, the gown has gorgeous beading on the sweetheart neckline and on the cuff, for a bit of extra glamour.
