A few months ago, while doing research for my article 5 Ingredients To Avoid Putting On Your Skin, I was inspired to find healthier replacements for all of my skin care products.
The idea that I could have clear skin and a clear conscience was very appealing to me. There is certainly no shortage of organic, eco-friendly, non-toxic, beauty products out there and now is the perfect time to get to know your options.
Here are some of my favourite green beauty products — just in time to stuff some stockings and fill out your holiday wishlist.
1. Pure + Simple
You will absolutely fall in love with everything from this Canadian Holistic Spa line. As its name suggests, the company focuses on creating professional skin care by using the purest and most natural ingredients possible. If you want to try before you buy, indulge in a luxurious facial at one of the spa’s four Ontario locations. Warning: you will get hooked – every product is pure…and simply divine.
My pick: Holistic Vanity Comforting Camellia Oil, $57.
2. Dr. Hauschka
The company has been around since 1935 so it’s had time to perfect its extraordinary range of products. It combines science and nature to create a line that supports your skin’s natural processes. Using biodynamic farming and strict certification, ‘the doctor’ offers the highest quality ingredients chock-full of plant extracts and herbal goodness.
My pick: Cleansing Milk, $40.
3. John Masters Organics
This luxury beauty line is built on the philosophy that we should treat the earth with the same respect we give our skin. A highly conscientious company, you won’t find any nasty chemicals in this full line of body, face and hair care products.
My pick: Vitamin C Anti-Aging Face Serum, $42.
4. Green Beaver Company
What’s the only thing better than a family-owned company that produces eco-friendly, certified organic and chemical-free products? A Canadian one! This line has got all of your personal care needs covered so stock up on everything from toothpaste to body wash knowing it’s safe for you, the planet and your child’s delicate skin. Even their packaging is BPA-free and environmentally friendly.
My pick: Certified Organic SPF 15 Daily Face Cream, $22.
5. Éminence Organics
Using sustainable farming practices as well as wind and solar energy, this Hungarian skin-care line creates deluxe organic products all while reducing its carbon footprint. Don’t be surprised to see actual fruit seeds, pulps and peels in the products…they don’t call it herbal craftsmanship for nothing!
My pick: Coconut Age Corrective Moisturizer, $58.
Try to make green choices by buying non-toxic, organic, chemical-free and eco-friendly gifts. Share this list with your loved ones too so you can help each other build a clean, green, healthy beauty routine.
