Can you imagine feeling like your claim to fame, your talent in life, was your ability to be a great mistress?
That’s exactly how Natalie feels. Early on in last night’s episode of The Mistress, she says, “I might be the perfect mistress. I know how to play the game. I’ve become very good at being the other woman.” She explains the appeal of it all, saying “it’s naughty, it’s sneaky, it’s against the rules.” Really? That’s all it takes?
After six weeks of watching The Mistress, I’m hooked — and devastated that last night’s episodes were the last of the first season. I’m fascinated by this world, and horrified that women (and men!) like this exist. I’m sad that there’s a need for the term “serial mistresses” in our world. I have to applaud Sarah Symonds for taking this public, and for trying to make a difference.
Speaking of serial mistresses, not only did Natalie move to another country to be with her original MM (married man) but after he dumped her in a dramatic (and disgusting) fashion, she rebounded with another MM.
She’s scared of being alone, and her fear has forced her to settle for half a relationship. Eventually Sarah, with the help of Natalie’s best friend, convinces her to burn all her mistress lingerie and walk away from married men…for good.
Slice caught up with Natalie to find how she’s holding up — and if she’s finally kissed her days of being the “perfect mistress” goodbye.
Slice: What is your current relationship status?
Natalie: I am currently in a new relationship with a truly wonderful guy.
Slice: Since the show, have you been in contact with your MM?
Natalie: Absolutely not, nor will I be in the future.
Slice: Are you weary of starting new relationships out of fear that you’ll end up a mistress again?
Natalie: Not at all. Life is full of experiences that we have the opportunity to learn from. I have learned from mine and do not need to repeat the experience.
Slice: Do you regret your past affairs?
Natalie: I don’t regret. As I said, life is about learning from our experiences. I’ve done that.
Slice: If you could say anything to your MM’s wife, what would you say?
Natalie: I don’t feel like I have anything to say to her. I really don’t feel it’s my place.
Slice: How would you describe your experience with Sarah?
Natalie: My experience was a positive one. It was a lot of fun actually and I would like to say thank you to Sarah for such a great time.
