If you thought things couldn’t get any worse after last week’s back-to-back episodes of The Mistress, you were sadly mistaken.
Last night we met Vonna and Grace, two women desperately trying to get their lives back on track after having them derailed by married men.
First up is Vonna, a serial mistress who has made a life out of having relationships with married men. To make matters worse, Vonna is a single mom raising an impressionable teenage daughter, who is learning terrible habits about relationships — and losing more respect for her mother by the minute.
While Vonna claims she wants to get out of her current year-long affair, she comes close to quitting on several occasions. It takes Sarah’s perseverance and patience to finally help Vonna see that she deserves so much more.
Slice caught up with Vonna to find out how she’s doing, now that the cameras and Sarah are both gone.
Slice: What is your current relationship status?
Vonna: I’m single.
Slice: Since the show, have you been in contact with your MM?
My conversations with my MM (married man) are fewer and farther between than before.
Slice: Are you weary of starting new relationships out of fear that you will end up a mistress again?
Vonna: I fear attractive men and their advances towards me.
Slice: Do you regret your past affairs?
Vonna: Yes.
Slice: If you could say anything to your MM’s wife, what would you say?
Vonna: If I could tell my MM’s wife anything, it would be that the best thing she ever did was to take him back and then dump him again!
Slice: How would you describe your experience with Sarah?
Vonna: My experience with Sarah was dynamic. It was hard emotional work, but very powerful — it made me step outside myself and take a good look at my life and change my MM addiction.
Next up is Grace, a mistress deeply in love (and in denial!) with a man who is totally unavailable. He’s managed to convince her that she is the main woman in his life, and that his wife is more of an inconvenience than his committed life partner.
Grace calls her MM her “boyfriend” and refuses to acknowledge that she is, in fact, a mistress. She is so swept up in his lies that she is finding it difficult to listen to Sarah’s advice.
After sitting in on a Mistresses Anonymous meeting and seeing a psychologist, Grace finally sees her situation clearly and agrees it’s time to walk away.
We caught up with Grace after her episode wrapped to find out how she’s holding up:
Slice: What is your current relationship status?
Grace: Still single.
Slice: Since the show, have you been in contact with your MM?
Grace: I haven’t heard from my MM since we broke up.
Slice: Are you weary of starting new relationships out of fear that you will end up a mistress again?
Grace: I’m not afraid of future relationships, in fact I welcome them because I feel I have changed, for the better, and I don’t feel like I will be taken advantage of again…I’m stronger and more confident.
Slice: Do you regret your past affairs?
Grace: I am confident I will never end up a Mistress again, however I don’t regret my choices. It has been a huge eye-opener and a an opportunity for growth.
